Interment Options

In-ground full casket or cremation urn burials provide interment in the earth.  Caskets are lowered into a concrete vault that has been previously placed in the grave.  Once the casket has been lowered into the vault, the vault is sealed with the cover and the grave is closed.  Urns may be placed in the ground with or without a vault.  Family members may opt to participate in closing the grave.

Columbarium

A  columbarium is an above-ground unit with individual niches that houses cremation urns.  Once the urn is placed inside the niche, the niche is then closed and sealed.  Memorialization is engraved on the front of the individual niche. The New Scotland Cemetery Association is currently designing a Columbarium Garden to house cremation urns.  More information to follow as this project progresses.

Memorialization

Only one monument shall be allowed on a grave  or combination of graves per owner. It shall be set in accordance with the general plan of the cemetery and shall conform to said plan in size and material.

Monuments are restricted in size to dimensions that will not cover more than 20% of the surface area of the grave or graves.  Every monument shall be at least 6 inches in thickness.

The bases of all monuments shall be finished true and level so as to fit on foundations without wedging or sprawls.
